Same Old Stuff

It looks like the cutoff this month is Janaury 9th. NOT the 13th, NOT the 12th and NOT EVEN the 10th!! Mostly I am just sad for my friends who thought they were getting referrals this month and now need to wait another month. This wait has been just full of disappointment after disappointment month after month. With any luck we can still get our referral in July but I really have no idea. I know I will wait it out but I just wish that we could start getting excited. It seems like as soon as we feel positive the CCAA takes the rug right out from under us.

Rumors...They have started

Referrals should be arriving early next week. The rumors are in full force. Our agency had a 1/10 LID and I have friends with the same LID so I REALLY want that date to be included. I am ok with the 10th being the cutoff BUT there are rumors that the 13th is included. IF the 13th is included then we are getting a June referral!! I've been on this roller coaster long enough to know that early (good) rumors are usually never true but I still can't help but feel so excited! I just need to hope for the 10th and then I will not be disappointed!!

Easter

I started getting sick last Thursday but I willed myself to feel better for Sunday. We woke up and had our indoor egg hunt and then went to church. In the afternoon we had family over and the boys and their cousin Olivia had the big outdoor hunt. The food was all delicious and the it was a really nice family day. By 7:00 Sunday night I felt terrible and by Monday AM I could barley walk. Off to the doctors I went and basically I had the flu that turned into an ear infection and just a nasty virus. I am starting to feel better today but I honestly do not remember ever feeling this sick!! Thank God I have great family who helped me out with the kids. Here are some pictures of Easter.
Family of 4 for a few more months!
Olivia, Shea and Bryce are ready for the egg hunt!

My niece, Addison. She has been warming up Lily's crib!

My grandparents who have been married for 60 years!

You know You're An Adoptive Parent When....

The fact that there are 143 million children without a parent to kiss them goodnight has made you lose sleep.

You realize DNA has nothing to do with love and family.

You can't watch Adoption Stories on TLC without sobbing. ( I have never been able to watch this without crying!)

The fact that, if 7% of Christians adopted 1 child there would be no orphans in the world, is convicting to you.

You spend free time surfing blogs about families who have experienced the blessing of adoption.
(Yup, I spend a little to much time reading blogs)

It drives you crazy when people ask you about adopted child's 'real' parents. (or when they refer to my bio children as my "real kids")

You have ever been 'pregnant' with your adoptive child longer than it takes an elephant to give birth. (2 years!) (By the time this wait is over I think I may look like an elephant!)

You had no idea how you would afford to adopt but stepped out in faith anyway, knowing where God calls you He will provide.

You have ever taken an airplane ride half-way around the world with a child you just met.

You believe God's heart is for adoption.

You realize that welcoming a child into your heart and family is one of the most important legacies you could ever leave on this earth.

You know what the word 'Dossier' means, and you can actually pronounce it!

You have welcomed a social worker into the most private parts of your life. (It absolutely amazes me the things a social worker needs to know!)

You shudder when people say your child is so lucky that you adopted them, knowing full well you are the blessed one to have him or her in your life. (Our child will not be lucky. There is nothing "lucky" about being abandoned and then given to a family and taken to live on the other side of the world. We will all be blessed to have each other. )

I saw this on the starfish website and it all resonated with me. Check out the Starfish Foster Home blog, it is a great story!

St. Patrick's Day

I barely remembered it was St. Patrick's Day today. I remember a time when what I would do on St. Patrick's Day was planned weeks before! I did manage to get the boys dressed in green (army green, that OK? Right?) and myself in a green. We had a great Irish dinner at a small pub near our home and as you can see it took everything out of Bryce!

Bryce fell asleep on dad's lap during dinner. St. Patrick's Day was a little to much for him. I hope this is the only time I see my son asleep in an Irish Pub!

We've had a busy few weeks and I am anxiously looking forward to the next set of referrals. We had our fingerprints re done for the third time and hopefully that is the last time! I have the care package all ready that I plan on sending to Lily when we get our referral. I have started buying a few small gifts to bring to the orphanage workers and I am hoping to accomplish a few more packing tasks in the next few months. My plan is to be all ready when we get our referral so I can spend the summer having fun with the boys. After all, this is our LAST summer without Lily! I am really starting to think that referrals should cover at least through the January 10th and that means we are still on track for a July referral. July can not get here soon enough!!

I LOVE COMMENTS!

First, thank you to those of you who do comment and thanks to the people who just started commenting (mom and dad!). I think I have a few readers out there because I am not the only one visiting the site! I know for certain that a few friends are reading (Aimee, Amy, Denise, Susan, Brittany, my wonderful mother in law!). So come on people, now is the time to make your self known!

Goodbye 2005!

Referrals for March came out today and they went through January 4th 2006. FINALLY the CCAA has finished referring 2005!! I am so happy that we are now into 2006 and that we have a 1/26/06 LID! The January cutoff is worse than RQ's horrid case by 1 day but I don't think it will affect my predicted July referral. I am already thinking ahead to April referrals and I am really hoping that 1/10/06 receives referrals. January 10th is our agencies next group and I have a few friends from other agencies who will also be expecting referrals. Check out Susan's blog and Hope's blog and in a few short weeks you can share in their excitement!! I am really starting to get excited, hard to believe this is really going to happen for us!!
